How to choose

• Count the digital inputs, digital outputs and analog inputs your machine needs, plus spare capacity.
• Output type: relay outputs for general loads, transistor outputs for fast switching.
• Supply voltage: 24 V DC (use a 24 V DIN-rail SMPS) or 230 V AC.
• Communication ports and programming software for your application.

What is the price of a PLC in India?

Compact PLCs on Voltkart start at ₹4,490 (Selec UNIX) including GST. A Delta DVP-SS PLC with 8 inputs and 6 outputs costs ₹7,550. Price rises with I/O count, analog inputs, communication ports and program memory.

Relay or transistor outputs?

Relay outputs switch AC or DC loads such as contactor coils and solenoid valves, but are slower and wear over time. Transistor outputs switch DC loads very fast and suit pulse outputs, stepper drives and frequent switching.

Which PLC should I choose for a small machine?

Count the digital inputs, outputs and analog signals you need and add about 20% spare. For a few I/O with temperature or analog signals, Selec UNIX or TWIX is compact and runs on 230 V AC. For more I/O, Modbus communication and expansion, the Delta DVP-SS series is a common choice.
