Level Controllers

Water level controllers on Voltkart from ₹1,450 including GST: Minilec WLC D1 and Selec WLCA2M-CE, for automatic pump control of overhead tanks and sumps. Voltkart is an authorised distributor of Minilec and Selec.

A water level controller starts the pump when the tank is low and stops it when the tank is full, so the tank never overflows and you don't have to switch the pump by hand. Prices checked 8 October 2026. Reviewed by Amit, Voltkart.

Water level controllers (live prices)

Model Supply Sensing Output Mounting Price (incl. GST)
Minilec WLC D1 240 V or 415 V AC 3 conductive probes (included) 1 changeover DIN rail or panel ₹1,540
Selec WLCA2M-CE 85–270 V AC/DC Conductive probes 10 A SPDT relay DIN rail ₹1,450

Typical wiring

  1. Give the controller its supply (230 V, or 415 V on the WLC D1).
  2. Hang the probes in the tank: one at the bottom (common), one at the low level, one at the high level.
  3. Wire the controller's output contact in series with the pump contactor or starter coil.
  4. Set the sensitivity so the controller reliably detects your water.

For three-phase pumps also fit a single phasing preventer or phase relay, and see the full Minilec price list.

Frequently asked questions

How does a water level controller work?

Stainless steel probes hang in the tank at different heights. Water conducts a small current between them. When the level falls below the lower probe the controller starts the pump; when water reaches the upper probe it stops the pump. A third probe at the bottom is the common reference.

Can it protect the pump from running dry?

Yes, if you also place probes in the sump or well: the controller then stops the pump when the source runs low, as well as when the overhead tank is full. Check the wiring diagram for the model you choose.

Can a water level controller start a three-phase pump directly?

No. Its output contact switches the coil of a contactor or starter, and the contactor switches the motor. Add a single phasing preventer such as the Minilec VSP 2 in the same starter to protect a three-phase pump.

Does it work with any water?

Conductive-probe controllers work with ordinary tank, borewell and municipal water. The sensitivity setting (1 kΩ to 200 kΩ on these models) lets you adjust for water with very low or high conductivity. They are not for oil or other non-conductive liquids.
