What a padlockable cam switch is used for
A padlockable cam switch is a manual on-off isolator: it disconnects a machine, motor or panel from the supply and can be locked in the OFF position with a padlock during maintenance (lock-out). This stops anyone from switching the equipment back on while someone is working on it.
Why 3 poles
A 3-pole switch breaks all three phases together. It suits three-phase motors and machines that do not use a neutral; if the load needs the neutral switched as well, choose the 4-pole version.
