What a padlockable cam switch is used for

A padlockable cam switch is a manual isolator: it disconnects a machine, motor or panel from the supply and can be locked in the OFF position with a padlock during maintenance (lock-out). This stops anyone from switching the equipment back on while someone is working on it.

Why 4 poles

A 4-pole switch breaks all three phases and the neutral together, so the downstream equipment is fully isolated from a three-phase-plus-neutral supply.

Choosing the right rating

• Pick a switch rated at or above the full-load current of the circuit it isolates; this model is rated 63 A.
• For motor circuits, check the utilisation category and rating printed on the switch label for motor duty, not just the current figure.
• Fit it where it can be reached and locked easily, typically on the machine or panel door.
