Schneider LC1E vs LC1D Contactors: Which to Buy, Matching Overload Relays & Price List

Schneider LC1E (Easy TeSys) and LC1D (TeSys D) are both 3-pole AC-3 motor contactors up to 440 V. LC1E is the cost-optimised range: the LC1E1210 (12 A, 1 NO auxiliary) costs ₹1,210 on Voltkart. LC1D adds a built-in 1 NO + 1 NC auxiliary, more coil voltages and ratings up to 150 A: the LC1D12 costs ₹1,600.

Voltkart sells genuine Schneider Electric products with a GST invoice. This guide decodes the part numbers, compares the two ranges, lists every rating we stock with its price, and shows which overload relay and auxiliary block fit each one.

What is the LC1E1210? Decoding the part number

  • LC1E: an Easy TeSys contactor (LC1D is TeSys D).
  • 12: rated 12 A in AC-3 (normal motor starting).
  • 10: one built-in normally-open (NO) auxiliary contact. A "01" ending means one normally-closed (NC) contact.
  • Coil code: letters after the number give the coil voltage on Schneider's coding. For example, Schneider lists the LC1E40M5 as a 220 V AC coil and the LC1D115M7 as a 220 V AC 50/60 Hz coil. Always check the coil voltage on the label.

"LC1 E12 10" and "LC1E1210" are the same part, written with or without spaces.

When to choose LC1E (Easy TeSys)

Choose LC1E for cost-sensitive direct-on-line starters, pumps, HVAC and general panels where the control supply is 220 V AC. It does the same AC-3 motor-switching job for less: at 12 A it is ₹390 cheaper than the LC1D12. Pair it with an LRE overload relay.

When to choose LC1D (TeSys D)

Choose LC1D when you need a 415 V, 110 V or 24 V AC coil, a built-in NO + NC for interlocking without an add-on block, a rating above 95 A, or when an OEM or export panel specifies TeSys D. Pair it with an LRD overload relay.

Matching overload relays and auxiliary blocks

An overload relay protects the motor against sustained overcurrent. Mount the LRE series on LC1E contactors and the LRD series on LC1D. Choose the range that brackets the motor's full-load current from its nameplate. The LRE and LRD codes share the same current ranges.

Motor current range For LC1E: LRE For LC1D: LRD
1–1.6 A LRE06 · ₹1,650 LRD06 · ₹1,890
1.6–2.5 A LRE07 · ₹1,650 LRD07 · ₹1,890
2.5–4 A LRE08 · ₹1,650 LRD08 · ₹1,890
4–6 A LRE10 · ₹1,650 LRD10 · ₹1,890
5.5–8 A LRE12 · ₹1,650 LRD12 · ₹1,890
7–10 A LRE14 · ₹1,650 LRD14 · ₹2,120
9–13 A LRE16 · ₹1,650 LRD16 · ₹2,120
12–18 A LRE21 · ₹1,830 LRD21 · ₹2,200
16–24 A LRE22 · ₹2,030 LRD22 · ₹2,200
23–32 A LRE32 · ₹2,830 LRD32 · ₹3,510
30–38 A LRE35 · ₹3,190 LRD35 · ₹3,510

Larger LRD relays for LC1D40–LC1D65: LRD332 (23–32 A) ₹3,950, LRD340 (30–40 A) ₹3,886, LRD350 (37–50 A) ₹5,330, LRD365 (45–65 A) ₹6,840. See all thermal overload relays.

Auxiliary blocks clip onto the front for extra contacts: for LC1E, LAEN11 (1NO+1NC) ₹450 and LAEN22 (2NO+2NC) ₹650; for LC1D, LADN11 ₹460, LADN22 ₹870 and LADN40 (4 NO) ₹870.

How to size a contactor for a motor

  1. Read the motor's full-load current (FLC) from its nameplate.
  2. Choose a contactor whose AC-3 rating is at least the FLC. Allow more margin for frequent starting, inching or plugging duty, and check Schneider's catalogue for those duties.
  3. Choose the overload relay range that brackets the FLC, then set its dial to the FLC.
  4. Match the coil voltage to your control supply.

Our guide to setting an overload relay for a motor covers step 3 in detail. For motor circuits you can also use a motor protection circuit breaker (MPCB) instead of a separate overload relay.

How Schneider TeSys compares with other brands

Schneider's TeSys contactors are an IEC-style family sold widely in India, so spare parts, overload relays and auxiliary blocks are easy to get. In Indian panels the usual comparison is Schneider against L&T / Lauritz Knudsen (LK); see our Schneider vs L&T contactors comparison. US brands built around NEMA-style motor control centres are rarely used in Indian IEC panels, and Voltkart doesn't sell motor control centres.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Schneider LC1E1210?

A 3-pole Easy TeSys contactor rated 12 A (AC-3) up to 440 V, with one built-in normally-open auxiliary contact. Voltkart stocks it with a 220 V AC coil for ₹1,210 including GST.

What is the difference between LC1E and LC1D contactors?

LC1E (Easy TeSys) is Schneider's cost-optimised range: 9–32 A models have one built-in NO auxiliary contact and 40–95 A models have none. LC1D (TeSys D) is the main industrial range with a built-in 1 NO + 1 NC, more coil-voltage options and ratings up to 150 A. Both are AC-3 contactors up to 440 V.

Which overload relay fits the LC1E1210?

Use the LRE series with LC1E contactors. Pick the range that brackets the motor's full-load current, for example LRE14 (7–10 A) or LRE16 (9–13 A). LC1D contactors use the LRD series.

Can I get an LC1E contactor with a 415 V or 24 V coil?

Voltkart stocks LC1E contactors with 220 V AC coils. For 415 V, 110 V or 24 V AC control circuits, choose an LC1D: depending on the rating, LC1D comes in 220, 415, 110 and 24 V AC.

What is the price of a Schneider 9 A contactor?

On Voltkart, the LC1E0910 (9 A, Easy TeSys) costs ₹1,056 and the LC1D09 (9 A, TeSys D) costs ₹1,421, including GST.
